My Opinion
I believe in stem cell research because I believe that it will one day save someone because studies show that they can create blood cells from stem cells and I think that it will one day allow us to maybe fight cancers and anemia. I also believe that in order to grow as a society we need to be more open minded with advances.
4.07 Representing the people Part two
Republicans are divided on the issue some believe it is to controversial and some think it goes against their beliefs.
As for Democrats most believe that the research could prove to be helpful and they tend to mostly support the research because they believe it will help science advance.
As for interest groups there are pro stem cell and anti stem cell groups: Just like the democrats and the Republicans they are divided some are ratical and some are pleasant but they believe it is killing a human being if you are on the anti stem cell research side and pro stem cell groups believe it will be good for science.
Stem Cell Research
Stem Cell Research began in the 1800's when scientist found they could make cells out of other cells. Scientists work with both human and animal cells. Some events that happened in stem cell history: 1995 first stem cell line taken from a primate
1997 Scientist cloned first lamb
1998 James Thomson successfully removed cells from spare embryos at clinics and he launched stem cell research into the spotlight for creating the the first human embryonic stem cell line, which still exists today.
In 2001 President Bush announced his decision to allow funding for research on existing human embryonic cells created before he announced his decision.
